With HondaSensing® Now Standard, the 2018 Honda Accord Raises the Bar Yet Again

Fresh off a recent redesign, the new 2018 Honda Accord has raised the bar for other sedans yet again, now offering the outstanding HondaSensing® suite of driver-assistive technology as standard equipment. Compromise is a great thing—just not when it comes to the safety of your vehicle; check out the HondaSensing® suite below, then give us a call at (888) 521-9078 to book your test drive!

What Technologies Are Included in the HondaSensing® Suite of Technology?

  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW): This system is able to recognize unintended lane departure from your marked lane if you start to drift without signaling; in this case, it will alert you with a flash and audible sound so you can bring your focus to correcting the lane drift.1
  • Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS): If the system detects your vehicle straying from the center of the marked lane and you haven't indicated a lane change, it can give you gentle steering inputs to bring the vehicle back to the center of the lane safely. 2
  • Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM): Drifting from your lane can lead to major accidents, so this feature seeks to intervene before it comes to that. If the system detects your vehicle drifting from the bounds of your lane without a turn signal indicator, the RDM system will alert you with rapid vibrating sensations on the steering wheel (a little like a rumble strip would), and then it can even gently correct you with slight steering inputs to keep you on the road; in worst case scenarios, it can even apply the brakes to keep you from leaving the road.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC): By using radar, this feature allows you to set a following interval when traveling on the highway, and then the system adjusts your speed so you don't have to do so manually, making light traffic a little lighter on you as well. 3

While the addition of standard HondaSensing® is new for the 2018 model year, that's not all 2018 Honda Accord brings to the new model year. If you’d like to see what else the 2018 Honda Accord brings to the party, it's worth coming in to see us at Piedmont Honda so you can take one for a test drive. Get hands-on experience with the redesigned style, updated tech, and of course, newly standard HondaSensing® technologies. See you soon!

1LDW only alerts drivers when lane drift is detected without a turn signal in use. LDW may not detect all lane markings or lane departures; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and road condition. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.

2 LKAS only assists driver in maintaining proper lane position when lane markings are identified without a turn signal in use and can only apply mild steering torque to assist. LKAS may not detect all lane markings; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and road condition. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.

3 Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow cannot detect all objects ahead and may not detect a given object; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and other factors. ACC should not be used in heavy traffic, poor weather or on winding roads. ACC only includes a limited braking function; driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.
