For drivers who like the looks and drivability of the popular Honda Civic but yearn for a bit of a boost in cabin space, then the Civic in the all-new Tourer trim is made for you.
Unfortunately, our Anderson, SC area customers longing for the 2014 Civic Tourer won't be satisfied this model year as the new Honda is available only in Europe, or at least for now.
Though we won't see the Civic Tourer at our dealership in the near future, we can still enjoy the model from afar. Honda has announced specifications for the European-exclusive wagon, paired with official images-- just in time for its worldwide debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show in mid-September.
On the topic of his creation, Adrian Killham, the Large Project Leader for the Honda Civic Tourer, says, "I am very proud of the Civic Tourer's sporty, sleek and dynamic proportions, which somewhat hide the car's true functionality and versatility."1
"To achieve true utility on a compact car, you have to consider how to make the most of the space in the cabin, which generally also affects the design," explains Killham. "Due to the clever platform of the Civic, we had freedom to optimize the package. The end result is a car that has almost a sports-car silhouette. For me, the strength of the car is the synergy of functionality, versatility, and dynamic expression."2
Some features we're looking forward to seeing most include its best-in-class interior volume and its 1.6-liter iDTEC engine straight from Honda's advanced Earth Dreams Technology range.
As we mentioned, the 2014 Honda Civic Tourer is not meant for retail in the U.S. but we can hope its undoubted popularity across the pond will spark the automaker to reconsider the model's availability to drivers stateside. If, or when, the brand changes its mind and the Civic Tourer packs its bags for a journey to Piedmont Honda, readers of our blog will be the first to know! Stay tuned for updates on new models and more.
