“Blue Skies for our Children,” is an initiative by Honda which focuses on creating advanced technologies in the areas of energy concerns and the environment.
It was an honor, therefore, for the auto manufacturer to have three U.S. plants recently recognized as ENERGY STAR certified. Energy certification, through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is a long process and can be arduous. It includes a series of several steps, each of which must be documented and backed up.
Eight steps in fact, make up the series which includes things like assembling a team, setting an energy performance goal and tracking efforts, applications for ENERGY STAR certification and several others.
Two of Honda’s automobile manufacturing plants in Ohio recently earned the EPAs ENERGY STAR certification for the 10th annual year. Additionally, Honda Manufacturing of Indiana LLC has been certified for the past four years.
In each location, new and innovative techniques have been applied to continue ENERGY STAR certification year after year.
