At Piedmont Honda we love to talk about new and used cars in Anderson, SC. But hey, our brand is a global one and we've got our finger on the Honda pulse wherever it may be beating loudest. Last time around it was coming from Japan and, continuing our international theme, we're reporting news from Nigeria today.
Given that the nation represents the largest auto market in Western Africa, you can understand why Honda would be interested in investing there. So they've set up shop in the former capital of Lagos under the title of Honda Automobile Western Africa. The group plans to promptly begin importing vehicles like the Honda Accord and the Civic, to name two. Of course others will follow, but the brass figured they'd kick things off in Nigeria with a couple of crowd-pleasers. You know, just to test the waters.
Although Africa is a huge market and is home to
over a billion people, this is only Honda's second subsidiary in the vast continent.
Their first investment occurred back in 2000 when they developed a home base in
South Africa. After over a decade, things seem to be moving along well in the
Rainbow Nation so why not look for other opportunities further north? After all, we're sure that Nigerian drivers will respond just
as positively to the Honda lineup as our greater Greer
customer base has.
